When you visit Seoul or another city in South Korea, one of the first things that you may wonder is whether or not it is safe to drink water from the tap.

Yes, you can drink tap water in Seoul, Busan, and all other cities in South Korea.

Previously, it was considered unsafe to drink tap water in South Korea, but since infrastructure has increased, the water quality from the tap is high and passes all the standards for safe drinking water.

Is it safe to drink tap water in South Korea?

Yes, it is safe to drink water straight from the tap in South Korea.

When you arrive in the country and go to drink from the tap, if you’re from a country where that’s the custom, you’ll probably wonder whether or not it is safe to do so in South Korea.

Fortunately, it is completely safe to drink tap water in Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Incheon, Jeju, or any other city or region of South Korea.

Many years ago, it was not considered safe to drink tap water in South Korea, but infrastructure has vastly improved since then, and tap water is now of high quality.

Though it is safe to drink tap water in Seoul, most Korean residents still prefer drinking bottled water or water from a water dispenser.

I personally have had no problems with drinking tap water in Seoul, Busan, Jeju, and a couple of other smaller cities, nor do I find the taste to be abnormal.
